House rules sign maker
Print the house rules your listing already shows, with quiet hours and your guest limit, as a sign for the wall or a 4×6 card. The house manual and the house rules message use the same list.
Your house rules
Saved on this deviceOne rule per line. Repeat only rules already on your listing: on Airbnb, new rules can't be added after booking.
Add a common rule
Add only rules your listing has. The party rule matches Airbnb's Community Disturbance Policy (opens in a new tab) (checked Nov 2, 2026); the no-pets rule says what Airbnb's Accessibility Policy (opens in a new tab) says: a service animal is not a pet (checked Nov 2, 2026).
Guest limit
Headline and sign text
Saved in this browser with your rental. Your house manual and guest messages use the same house rules.
House rules
The same house rules as our listing.
Add a rule, like no smoking.
Thank you for taking good care of our home!
Your guest limit joins the sign once you confirm it under Guest limit.
The matching message
Send it with the check-in instructions as a summary of the listing's rules. Tips: house rules template.
Fill these in first (7 left). Every message reuses them.

How it works
How the house rules sign maker works
The sign is built from the house rules, quiet hours and guest limit saved with your rental, the same details your house manual and house rules message use. The guest limit prints only once you've confirmed it. A rule asking for a cleaner's task or threatening a fine is left off, and checkout requests never go on this sign.
Hypothetical example
A host with four rules, quiet hours from 10 pm to 8 am and a confirmed limit of 4 guests.
| Up to 4 guestsFrom your house details | On the sign |
|---|---|
| Quiet hours 10 pm to 8 amFrom your house details | On the sign |
| No smoking or vaping anywhere on the propertyA rule from your listing | On the sign |
| No parties or eventsA rule from your listing | On the sign |
| Wash and put away the dishes before you leaveAirbnb's policy names washing and putting away dishes | Left off |
| A $100 fine for smoking indoorsAirbnb's policy bars fines and penalties | Left off |
| Lines on the sign | 4 |
2 of 4 rules are left off and listed below the sign, so you can take them out of your listing too. Every sign says "The same house rules as our listing." and fits up to 8 rules.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't change your listing. Put every rule in your listing's house rules section first; the sign only repeats it.
- It doesn't write rules for you. The one-tap rules are common ones; add only those your listing already has.
- It can't tell whether a rule is enforceable where you host. Local rules and the platform's policies decide that.

Questions hosts ask
Can I put a house rules sign up in an Airbnb?
Yes, if it only repeats the rules in your listing. Airbnb's Reasonable house rules and requests policy (opens in a new tab) says rules must be disclosed in the designated section of the listing at the time of booking and, for reservations booked on or after Nov 20, 2026, that hosts may not communicate new rules or requests after booking, including by signs in the home (checked Nov 2, 2026).
Which rules does the maker add in one tap?
no smoking, no parties, no pets and pets with approval. The party rule matches Airbnb's Community Disturbance Policy (opens in a new tab), which doesn't allow open-invite parties or disruptive gatherings (checked Nov 2, 2026). The no-pets rule adds that service animals are not pets, as Airbnb's Accessibility Policy (opens in a new tab) says (checked Nov 2, 2026).
Can the sign mention a fine for breaking a rule?
No. The same policy says hosts may not impose fines or other penalties on guests, so the maker leaves any line about a fine off the sign. A notice from your HOA or city about its own fines belongs in the listing's designated section.
Why isn't my guest limit on the sign?
Every rental starts with an example guest count. The sign prints the limit only after you enter or confirm it under Guest limit, so an example number never reaches a guest as a rule.
